ABOUT THE FARM
The farm was started by Ralph and his former partner in 2016 with the intention of creating an eco-friendly, ethical farm focused on rare breeds that are also suited to the local eco-system. The farm was originally the vineyard of the convent of Carapelle Calvisio but passed into private hands well over 100 years ago.
In 1950 the farm was abandoned when many members of the family that owned if emigrated to Canada. The farm became overgrown and then in the early years of this century there was a huge fire that burned down many of the olive trees and other plants that once stood there. As there was no-one working the land woodland took the place of once cultivated land.

When the farm was purchased there was nothing that you see today other than the main building that still needs to be fully restructured. Due to the focus on eco-friendliness, the farm has been built without the use of heavy machinery and is managed day to day by hand without tractors or other large vehicles.
Before
The farm today:
In 2018 Elizabeth became a part owner of the farm after coming on a work exchange and deciding to become part of the farms future. Her passion for food and animals and her Spanish ancestry have been instrumental in many of the products that we have since made not least our desire to produce the patanegra of Abruzzo and chorizo!
Today the farm is still a work in progress and will be for many years to come but the focus on ethical rearing of animals is at the heart of everything that we do.
Our goal is to become a provider of the last meat you can eat before choosing to become vegetarian. Why? Because you can make many better choices in how you care for animals, how they live and what they eat before the ultimate decision if you want to take them to slaughter.

We are expanding our products and services and growing our team by offering opportunities to others to get involved. As you follow this tour we will share information about each of the breeds, their history and importance, why we choose them, the products we are making and plan to make.
