Hand Woven Scarf (Gentile di Puglia Wool)
Our rare breed wool which comes from our flock of 100% purebred Gentile Di Puglia sheep, is spun into fine yarn of the softest quality. Our sheep are raised naturally and ethically in the mountains of Abruzzo where they originate and are famous for the 200km twice annual walk between Puglia and Abruzzo, know as the Transhumance.
The spun wool is hand woven on a traditional loom to create various items using undyed wool but also naturally coloured wool. The coloured wool is all carefully hand dyed, using naturally sourced flowers and plants. Some of which grow spontaneously on the farm (See links below for Information on the plants used)
Each of the scarves is individually and lovingly hand woven and finished to create a uniquea 100% unique item of beauty that if cared for should last a lifetime.
The dimensions of each of the scarves are a minimum of 150cm long and each one is 21cm wide. Some have tasseled ends and other are finished without tassels. All of our scarves are exceptionally soft and very warm to wear.
